Home Reversion

A Home Reversion is one of two main types of Equity Release. The other type is a Lifetime Mortgage and at Sixty Plus we provide independent advice on both types of Equity Release.

A Home Reversion is a way for homeowners aged 65 and over to release some of the money in their property.

Although often perceived to be a new idea, Equity Release has been around for a long time with the first Home Reversion plans in 1965.

Sixty Plus is a firm of financial advisers specialising in Equity Release. We provide friendly independent advice on all your Home Reversion options.

A Home Reversion plan involves selling some or all of your property to a Home Reversion provider in return for a lump sum. There is no rent or interest to pay.

Safety is of the utmost important to both our clients and ourselves when arranging a Home Reversion plan. We at Sixty Plus only recommend Home Reversion providers who are members of the trade body for Equity Release providers, SHIP (Safe Home Income Plans).

With a Home Reversion plan from a SHIP member, you will have:

  • the right to live in the property until they die or move into long term case..
  • independent legal advice. Your solicitor works only for you and not the Home Reversion provider.

Your Home Reversion service from Sixty Plus will include:

  • A free initial meeting without obligation. During this meeting we will discuss your needs and explain your Equity Release options that are open to you.
  • Following this we will research the market to identify the right Home Reversion plan for you.
  • We will present our Home Reversion recommendation to you, we will assist you with the initial paperwork and, if required, recommend a solicitor who specialises in Equity Release and Home Reversion plans.
  • A report detailing our Home Reversion plan recommendation.
  • We will discuss the impact a Home Reversion may have on means tested benefits, such as Pensions Credit and Council Tax Benefit. We can often help you to avoid a reduction in your benefits but each case needs to be considered individually.
  • We welcome family involvement as we often find clients wish to involve their children when considering a Home Reversion plan but this is up to you.
